ESPC — Eastern Suburbs Pony Club |
|
The Eastern Suburbs Pony Club conducts most of its rally days at the equestrian grounds of Sydney’s Centennial Park, which is well placed to serve the needs of members in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. A pony club has been at Centennial Park since 1946. It was initially called “Sydney Riding Club and Pony Club Branch”, and was affiliated with the Pony Club Association in 1956. By 1958 the club name had been changed to “Eastern Suburbs Pony Club”. Most of our members keep their horses at the Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre or Malabar Riding School. Those who stable at the Equestrian Centre can ride to rally days. The rest of us arrive with horse floats and mingle with the Sunday morning crowds of joggers, cyclists, picnickers and others. Fortunately there is dedicated parking for a few horse floats so this works reasonably well. When it comes to more major events (e.g., we are hosting the zone gymkhanna this year) Centennial Park is not suitable and we use another pony club ground. Our ‘club house’ is a Morton Bay Fig (Ficus macrophylla) as seen in the background photo, while our equipment is stored at the Equestrian Centre. This is all very basic but has worked well enough since we have an enthusiastic group of parents and a great bunch of riders. Not only do we all have a lot of fun, we also have some very good riders in our ranks. If you are interested come along and check us out. You can print your own copy of the membership application form if you want. |
Back to (near) normalRally days as usualIf you need more information go to the contacts page and give one of us a call. General note: All members must renew their membership each year, and all riders and parent members must also sign the Risk Book before participating in their first Rally Day of the year. (Yes, the form has to be signed again each year.) It is also a good idea for riders with new mounts to attend a few rally days so the new combination can be graded. In order to attend many competitions a rider and mount need to have attended three rally days before application can be made to attend that competition. |
